Policies & Etiquette

Laws

  1. The Seattle lakes and Sound are federal waters, as such, all federal laws apply.

  2. Respect Local Laws.

    • Simply ask the captain and crew when unsure about local laws.

  3. Do not bring more than twelve passengers (including yourself) aboard charters

  4. No Drugs Allowed (including marijuana)

    • As previously mentioned, when aboard the Oasis, you will be traveling through federal waters. As such, even though marijuana is legal in Washington state, it is still illegal under federal law.

  5. COVID-19 Safety

    • In accordance with the King County mandate effective October 25th and for the safety of your guests and our captains and crew, we are requiring proof of full COVID vaccination status in the form of your vaccination card, a photo of your vaccination card, or a photocopy of your vaccination card. For those who are unvaccinated or cannot prove vaccination status, you will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test from a testing provider in the last 72 hours. Policies

  1. “Barefoot” Rule

    • Fashionable footwear is lovely, however stiletto heels can dent our teak decks and often black soles leave scuff marks.

    • Soft-soled “boat shoes” are allowed on deck.

    • Footwear should be removed before entering any interior spaces.

  2. Red wine and similar drinks that stain prohibited

    • Unfortunately red wine can stain fiberglass, teak floors as well as carpets, furniture and the suede walls. The cost of replacing these is significant enough to not want to take the risk.

  3. Smoking/Vaping

    • Smoking is only permitted in designated exterior areas.

  4. No Pets

    • Despite our love for animals, the Oasis is a pet-free vessel.

  5. Luggage

    • Hard-sided is discouraged in favor of soft luggage that can be collapsed for stowing.

    • Oversized hard-shell luggage can prove difficult to move below deck to the staterooms and may scratch the wood surfaces.

  6. Glassware

    • For the safety of your guests and the crew, do not bring your own glassware aboard.

  7. Avobenzone-free Sunscreens Only

    • Avobenzone leaves stains on the deck surfaces and upholstery.

    • We have sunscreen on board, but if you prefer to bring your own, here are a few options to consider:

    • For Adults:

      • Blue Lizard Sensitive Sunscreen, Sunology Natural Sunscreen (SPF 50), Goddess Garden Spray (SPF 30), Elta MD Facial Sunscreen (SPF 46), Biore Sarasara Sunscreen (SPF 50+), Del Mar Beach Supply Company (SPF 32)

    • For Infants:

      • Thinkbaby Sunscreen (SPF 50+), Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby Sunscreen (SPF 60+), Badger Baby Sunscreen Cream (SPF 30), Babyganics Sunscreen Lotion (SPF 50)

  8. Cancelation Policy

    • Should the CHARTERER cancel 30 days or more before the charter term begins, deposits will be refunded for any conditions. Within 30 days of the charter, a refund will only be granted due to weather or harsh conditions and shall be canceled at the captain’s suggestion..

Etiquette

  1. Respect the Crew

    • Treat them as you would a valued employee. They are there entirely to make sure your charter exceeds expectations.

  2. Tipping

    • As your broker may advise, tipping the crew is customary at the end of a satisfactory yacht charter. Consult your broker or refer to the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association (MYBA), for the base tipping guidelines aboard a U.S. yacht charter.

  3. Listen closely to safety briefings

    • Safety is the prime responsibility of the captain and crew, and they take it very seriously.

    • Before you embark, there will be a safety briefing about life jackets and protocol for other safety concerns.

  4. Keep Crew Informed

    • To ensure efficient and safe resolutions, do not take matters into your own hands.

    • If you have any changes in the original plan, inform the crew as soon as possible.

    • If any other issues arise, for example, if a drink is spilled, the crew knows the best way to clean and prevent stains.

  5. Treat the boat with care

    • In order to continue providing you and future guests a luxurious experience, we ask that you treat our vessel with care as many furnishings are custom-made.
